Analog-circuit technology, MOSFET technology, and advanced packaging combine to incorporate controller and driver functions into ON Semiconductor’s new single-circuit lithium-ion battery-protection controller. The LC05111CMT enables high-precision current control without using a current-detection resistor. Such current control, therefore, reduces charging time by allowing for higher charging current. High-accuracy detection circuits and detection-delay circuits prevent batteries from over-charging, over-discharging, overcurrent discharging, and overcurrent charging. The device, which will find homes in advanced portable devices like smartphones and tablets, comes in lead-free and halide-free WDFN-6 packaging.
