Optically Isolated Solid State Relay Handles 5 A At 500 V

Dec. 12, 2013
IXYS Integrated Circuits Division (ICD), Inc. announced the immediate availability of the CPC1968J, 2Arms Solid State Power Relay.

The CPC1968J, 2 Arms solid state power relay from IXYS Integrated Circuits Division (ICD), Inc. is a single-pole normally open (1-Form-A) solid state power relay rated for up to 5 A continuous load current.

Optically coupled MOSFET technology enables the CPC1968J to provide 2.5 kVrms of input to output isolation. The output is constructed with efficient MOSFET switches and IXYS ICD's patented OptoMOS architecture and technology.

The CPC1968J offers the lowest on-resistance in the power relay family of devices with a load voltage rating of 400 V or greater. This combination of low on-resistance, high load voltage and high load current handling capability makes this relay suitable for a variety of high performance switching applications such as medical equipment, industrial controls, electronic switching and instrumentation. The unique ISOPLUS-264 package pioneered by IXYS Power Division enables solid state relays to achieve the highest load current and power ratings in a small footprint.   Package dimensions are 19.9 x 26.2 x 5.0 mm with a weight of  7.1 grams.

The ISOPLUS-264 package features power silicon devices mounted onto a Direct Copper Bond (DCB) substrate to maximize power handling capability. This DCB ceramic, the same substrate used in high power modules, not only provides 2.5 kVrms isolation but also has a very low thermal resistance of  0.3 degrees C/W.

The CPC1968 is available in production quantities.
