Fashioned for easy installation into circular encoder housings common to industrial motors, the AEDT-9140 three-channel, high-temperature optical incremental encoder modules are available in a variety of counts per revolution (CPR) and shaft diameter options. The modules include a lensed LED source and detector IC in a small plastic package. To detect rotary position, the two quadrature-output channels and the index-output channel operate with a code wheel having an optical radius of 11 mm for 100 CPR to 512 CPR operation and 11.68 mm for 1,000 CPR. The index output, a 90° true index pulse, generates once for each full rotation of the code wheel. Other features include TTL compatibility, operation from a ingle 5V supply, an operating temperature from -40°C to +115°C, and RoHS compliance. Price for the AEDT-9140 series optical encoder modules is $18.50 each/1,000. AVAGO TECHNOLOGIES, San Jose, CA. (800) 235-0312.
