Pulse Genertor Supports Dual-Axis Motion Controls

May 1, 2000

The PCL-5023 programmable pulse generator (PPG) can support two-axis motion controls on both stepper motors and pulse input-type servo motors. The device relieves the host CPU of motion control tasks by generating motion-control profiles and output pulses. Features include a maximum output speed of 4.9 Mpulses/s at a reference clock speed of 19.6608 MHz, an interface to Intel or Motorola 8- or 16-bit host CPUs, and 21 interrupt sources per axis to the host CPU.
