Motion Control Comes To PC/104 Format

Nov. 1, 1998

For servo and stepper motor applications, the PC68 PC/104 intelligent motion controller includes a high speed RS-232 port for stand-alone applications. The PC68 builds on the stackable architecture of PC/104 by offering modular functionality such as two or four axes of control, stacking on another two or four axes as needed. Accuracy is at rates of 1,044,000 pulses/s for micro-stepping applications, and the servo output uses a 16-bit DAC for high resolution and supports ±10V or zero to 10V. Encoder feedback supports rates up to 4 MHz. Upper and lower limit inputs, a home input and an auxiliary output signal are standard on each axis. Eight general-purpose I/O signals are standard and can be used to sense or trigger events coordinated with motion.
