Providing thermal transfers in load dump, capacitor discharge applications, the WDBR Series dynamic braking resistor allow motion-control designers to replace bulky wire-wound devices with a low-inductance, flameproof, intrinsically safe planar device rated for ultra-high temperatures. Typical applications include dynamic motor braking, battery pre-charge and capacitor discharge circuits in hybrid vehicles, and voltage-bus clamp and trickle-charge circuits in industrial electronics, UPS systems and heavy-duty battery backup systems. Maximum pulse power ratings include 1.5 kW, 2 kW, 3.5 kW, 5 kW, and 7kW and resistance values range from 12 to 150 Ohms with tolerances to ±10%. Minimum dielectric withstanding voltage is 2.5 kVdc and inductance values range from less than 3 µH to less than 6 µH. Operating temperature ranges to 400°C. IRC INC., Corpus Christi, TX.
