Gate Drivers Empower BLDC Motor Apps

April 12, 2011
Pumped for three-phase brushless dc (BLDC) motor control applications, ATA6843 and ATA6844 feature six-output stages for direct motor control.

Pumped for three-phase brushless dc (BLDC) motor control applications, ATA6843 and ATA6844 feature six-output stages for direct motor control. The ATA6844 is a high-temperature version that operates at temperatures up to +200°C. It enables direct attachment of the ECU to hot actuators for short wiring and optimal construction. Both devices provide protection and diagnostic functions such as over-temperature, over-voltage, under-voltage, and short-circuit plus charge-pump failures. They integrate the company's LIN2.1-compliant transceiver IP for in-car communication via the standard automotive network. Available now in 7 mm x 7 mm QFN48 packages, pricing starts at $2.10 (ATA6843) and $2.40 (ATA6844) each/10,000. ATMEL CORP., San Jose, CA. (408) 441-0311.
