Shielding contacts from corrosive elements and wear due to repetitive insertions and reinsertions, the company’s RJ-11 and R-J45 connectors are now available with EPP-918A, a proprietary, environmentally-protective compound. The material provides both pore blocking and lubricating properties as well as moisture, humidity, dirt, chemical, and corrosion resistance. Applied to the gold-plated contacts during manufacturing, it contains ultraviolet tracer dye to enable visual inspection. In addition to RJ-45 or RJ-11 jacks, which are available shielded or unshielded with one to 12 ports in vertical and right-angle configurations and with or without LEDs, EPP-918A is available as an option on any of the company’s connectors. Treated connectors feature an operating temperature range from -40?C to +85?C and can withstand soldering temperatures in excess of 260?C for 10s.
