To reduce press-in-force and diminish stress on PCBs while boosting reliability and assembly efficiency, the company’s redesigned family of right angle female DIN 41612 connectors for daughter card applications is available in type R, R/2 and R/3 versions. Employing an eye-of-the-needle pressfit zone, the connectors’ press-in force decreases by approximately 25% over existing versions. Also, an automated optical inspection step during the manufacturing process ensures 100% controlled pin quality. A press-in cover on every pressfit version enables the type R female connector to press in using a flat rock press-in tool without damaging the contacts. Single-unit price for the redesigned connectors is $2.80. ERNI ELECTRONICS INC., Midlothian, VA. (804) 228-4100.
