The new PLC-V8, a cabling solution for connecting the PLC-Relay to PLC systems, aims to cut installation time by more than 60% and eliminate the need for expensive relay output cards. Instead of daisy chaining relays together, this module uses two power connections provided by the PLC-V8 modules. A predefined 14-way ribbon cable with ribbon cable pluggable connectors on both sides makes the connection, and the only discrete wiring necessary is the 24 Vdc power and the discrete field connections. With the PLC-V8 and PLC-Relay together in a low voltage package, a higher density 24 Vdc PLC I/O card can be used. If a relay output fails, only the pluggable relay must be replaced, unlike 120V AC output cards, which require that the whole card be replaced after failure. PHOENIX CONTACT INC., Harrisburg, PA.
