A viable candidate for applications requiring a rapid cure without external heat, EP30-4, a transparent, low-viscosity adhesive, sealant, and coating, spreads in films as thin as 0.025". It becomes tack free in as little as 30 minutes and is said to provide fine spectral transmission in thin sections and high non-yellowing properties, attributes that make it suitable for fiber-optic bonding applications. The 2-component epoxy produces a tensile strength greater than 10,500 psi and a bond shear strength exceeding 2,000 psi. With a working life of eight to10 minutes, it can be applied by spraying or flow coating. Operating temperature range is from -50°C to more than 120°C. Other features include a volume resistivity greater than 1,016 Ω-cm and a dielectric constant and dissipation factor, respectively, of 4.3 and 0.022 at 100 Hz. EP30-4 is available in premixed bi-packs and cartridge/gun packaging as well as in pint, quart, gallon, and 5-gallon containers. MASTER BOND INC., Hackensack, NJ. (201) 343-8983.
