The DensiShield copper I/O links achieve 10-Gb/s per channel differential performance using common wire gauges in cable lengths up to 10m and a full DensiShield system provides four-channel capability, consequently delivering an aggregate bandwidth of 40 Gb/s. A DensiShield test set is on tap that features Broadcom BCM8072 dual-channel transceivers compliant to IEEE802.3ap test requirements. The 10Gb/s per channel differential performance is attainable at 6m or less using 30 AWG cable, 8m or less over 28 AWG, and 10m with 26 AWG. Meeting both 10GBase-CX4 Ethernet and Infiniband standards, the system also accommodates a card-slot pitch as low as 15 mm and achieves a port-to-port centerline of 12.5 mm along a card edge.
