Fiber Channels, Electrical Contacts Merged Into Single Optical Connector
April 11, 2014
Power and data can now transmit through one optical connector. Fischer Connectors developed what it calls a hybrid connector, the latest addition to its FiberOptic Series. The new FOH 2-2 push-pull connector incorporates two fiber channels and two electrical contacts. Its mono-block mate adapter allows for easy access to ferrules, facilitating field cleaning and maintenance. The connector includes IP68 mated and IP67 unmated ingress protection, and meets IEC 61753-1 Extreme Environment standards. Fiber contacts are SM and MM optical fibers (UPC and APC polishing). Electrical contacts have a current rating of 10 A and rated voltage of 400 V rms. In addition, there are optional gas tight panel receptacles.
