NEMA publishes standards for solid-state street lights

The National Electrical Manufactures Assoc. (NEMA) recently published its standards for solid-state street lighting, ANSI C136.37. It is titled Solid State Light Sources Used in Roadway and Area Lighting.The standard defines interchangeability for solid-state lighting and includes requirements for operating temperature, correlated color temperature, mounting, dimming, protection against the elements, and wiring and grounding. It also establishes protocols for surge test waveforms, a basic insulation test, and special ratings.
