RF Wirewound Chip Inductors Come In SMD Packages

Jan. 28, 2014
Abracon Corporation extends its product portfolio with the newly introduced AISC-0402HP, AISC-0603HP, AISC-0805HQ and AISC-1008HQ series of wirewound chip inductors for radio frequency applications.

Abracon Corporation’s expanded product portfolio includes the new the AISC-0402HP, AISC-0603HP, AISC-0805HQ and AISC-1008HQ series of wirewound chip inductors for radio frequency applications.

Parts are currently available in standard EIA sizes (0402, 0603, 0805, 1008) from 1.00 x 0.55 x 0.50 mm to 2.60 x 2.10 x 1.70 mm, in low cost, RoHS compliant and lead-free SMD packages. This enables impedance matching for both RF and IF circuits in a compact design. Such wirewound chip inductors offer a wide range of inductance from 1.7 nH to 390 nH with a high Q up to 98 at 1.5 GHz and a rated current up to 2100 mA.

Standard RF applications for these chip inductors include: smart phones, cordless phones, remote controls, wireless LANs, wireless mice, wireless keyboards, GPS, RFID, base stations, repeaters, RF transceivers and Bluetooth. They can also be used for broadband applications such as: LED TV filters, tuners, cable modems and set top boxes. Other applications include: USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394.

Key features of the AISC-0402HP/0603HP/0805HQ/1008HQ series of RF wirewound inductors include:

  • A higher Q and current than the standard AISC-0402/0603/0805/1008 series
  • An available tight inductance tolerance of 2%.
  • A wide operating temperature range of -40 ºC to +125 ºC.
  • RoHS compliance and lead-free.

These inductors are currently in stock with Abracon's Global Distribution partners at a competitive resale price of less than $0.105 per piece for quantities of 10,000.
