Described as the first of its kind, a series of film-foil capacitors employ externally mounted resistors for a direct connection to standard ultra fast rectifiers in MD3CC packages. Designed for snubbing high-frequency switching transients in switch-mode power supplies, the RCN snubber network has a direct mounting feature that aligns the three terminals with the rectifier package. This design decreases space and assembly requirements, while increasing reliability. Each snubber network is constructed with two series connected RC legs and a common center tap terminal. Capacitance ranges from 0.0086 to 0.22 µF with resistor values from 2.5 to 25 ohms in 20W heat sink TO-220 packaging. The network operates in temperatures up to 105°C and arrives assembled on an aluminum heat sink plate via mounting holes. Capacitors are individually tested for capacitance tolerances, dissipation factor, dielectric withstanding voltage and insulation resistance. ELECTRONIC CONCEPTS, Eatontown, NJ. (732) 542-7880.
