A low-cost alternative for tantalum nitride chip resistors, the RNCS Series of passivated Nichrome chip resistors are said to exhibit similar performance. The chip resistors employ a proprietary Nichrome alloy substrate material and a special hydrophobic polymer inner passivation. According to the company, the RNCS Series has now surpassed 3000 hours of 95°C/90% humidity testing at low power loading. The resistors are available in sizes from 0402 to 2512, resistance values from 10 ohms to 1 Mohm, with 0.1% tolerance and 25 ppm TCR standard. Standard packaging is tape and reel in 4K, 5K, and 10K piece quantities depending on part size. Most sizes and resistance values are also offered in 1K reels. Pricing varies with size, tolerance, and TCR and ranges from $0.02 to $0.30 each in reel quantities. STACKPOLE ELECTRONICS INC. Raleigh, NC. (919) 850-9500.
