Power Resistors Provide Thermal Dissipation In Hybrids

March 8, 2010
WDBR Series planar thick-film resistors carry surge power ratings up to 7 kW and feature a steel substrate that provides direct transfer of thermal energy to an external heat sink

Capable of dissipating significant amounts of heat generated during the battery charging cycle in hybrid electric vehicles, the WDBR Series planar thick-film resistors carry surge power ratings up to 7 kW and feature a steel substrate that provides direct transfer of thermal energy to an external heat sink. The resistors also perform in bleeder circuits to absorb excess energy resulting when alternative energy systems are switched off. Power ratings include 0.5W, 1.0W, 2W, 3W, 5W, and 7kW and standard resistance values are 12?, 22?, 47 ?, 100?, and 150? with tolerances to ±10%. IRC INC., Boone, NC. (828) 264-8861.
