The LT1719, an UltraFast comparator that features 4.5-ns propagation delay with just 20-mV overdrive, supports single-supply operation from 2.7 to 10.5 V. It also has a rail-to-rail output, and it can be configured with independent analog and digital supply pins. Built-in hysteresis is included, along with an optimized pin-out that uses the power rails to shield the inputs from the potential parasitic effects of the fast switching output. The analog input and digital output supply pins can be tied together if necessary. When it's used with separate supplies, however, the LT1719 tolerates any power sequencing at turn-on and turn-off. The input voltage range extends to 100 mV below the negative supply rail, letting ground be used as the negative supply. Power consumption can be minimized via a shutdown function that drops the supply current to 0.1 µA in the off mode. Now available in the 8-pin SO package, the LT1719 costs $1.95 each in 1000-piece quantities.
