Embedded-SW/Digital-Circuit Dev Board Built Around Mini Zynq

Dec. 3, 2013
The ZYBO (Zynq Board) from Diligent offers a low-cost alternative to the ZedBoard for designers who don’t require the FMC connector’s high-density I/O, but still want to leverage the processing power and extensibility of Xilinx’s Zynq All Programmable System-On-Chip (AP SoC) architecture.

The ready-to-use, entry-level, embedded-software and digital-circuit development platform is built around the Z-7010, the smallest member of the Xilinx Zynq-7000 family. The Z-7010, based on the AP SoC, integrates a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor with Xilinx 7-Series FPGA logic. It can host an entire system design when coupled with the ZYBO’s multimedia and connectivity peripherals. ZYBO’s on-board memories, video and audio I/O, dual-role USB, Ethernet, and SD slot eschews the need for additional hardware. Five Pmod connectors facilitate a design’s growth path. The board is compatible with Xilinx’s Vivado Design Suite and the ISE/EDK toolset, both of which meld FPGA logic design with embedded ARM software development into an intuitive design flow.
