Said to improve receiver performance in cable TV digital set-top boxes as well as analog and digital TVs, the 1-GHz ABA3130 high-linearity RF amplifier with integrated gain control is designed to replace existing discrete solutions. To ensure compatibility, the device features wideband operation from 50 MHz to 1.1 GHz. It exhibits a typical noise figure of 4.5 dB at 5 dB gain, which reportedly enables clearer analog pictures and better reception on digital channels. Dynamic gain control range is 37 dB. The ABA3130 accepts a single-ended input and converts it to a differential output, which eliminates the need for a separate balun transformer. It comes in an RoHS-compliant, 12-pin, 3 mm x 3 mm x 1 mm QFN package and operates from a single 5V supply. ANADIGICS INC., Warren, NJ. (908) 668-5000.
