Utilizing an architecture optimized for LCD PC applications, the SP1015 (pictured) and SP1215 Direct Interface controllers interface directly with Intel's 810/810E DVO ports to reduce system cost. The SP1015 supports resolutions up to XGA, while the SP1215 supports input resolutions up to SXGA+. Both products feature automatic configuration, panel power sequencing, and image scaling. An external microcontroller is not required, thereby reducing the number and cost of components requred by LCD monitor analog-type interfaces. It also eliminates the firmware effort required in current solutions. Both ICs support 12-bit and 24-bit input data and implement advanced image processing algorithms and many automatic system configuration features. The SP1015 controller is priced at $12.00 each/1,000 and the SP1215 controller costs $12.00 each in either a 128- or 160-pin QFP.
