Described as the highest-performing MEMS microphones available, the WM7110 and WM7120 sport compact profiles and promise excellent recording quality and low power consumption for a wide range of portable applications. The microphones employ the company’s proprietary CMOS/MEMS membrane technology and are available in enhanced versions, the WM7110E and WM7120E, which are reportedly the first MEMS silicon microphones to deliver a sensitivity tolerance of ±1 dB. The WM7110 and WM7120 also are the first to exploit the company’s AudioPlus True Mics technology, based on its novel MEMS transducer IP that uses standard CMOS foundries for production. The WM7110 measures 4.72 mm x 3.76 mm x 1.25 mm and the WM7120 3.76 mm x 2.95 mm x 1.10 mm. Both devices typically consume 160 µA and specify an A-weighted SNR of 62 dB. Additionally, they exhibit a maximum THD of 0.5% at a sound-pressure level of 100 dB. The WM7110 and WM7110E will be available for sampling in November and the WM7120 and WM7120E will be available in December.
