The seemingly endless demand for faster, quieter and lower power dissipating circuits by the telecomm, high-end PC and workstation markets is behind the development of new series of high-speed, low-skew ECL and PECL logic devices. Designed to offer equivalent or higher performance and pin compatibility with existing competitive standard ECL and PECL logic products, the SK10/100 series presently includes 11 parts: 1:9- and 1:10-output clock drivers, differential receivers, a dual differential PECL-to-CMOS/TTL translator, a 9-bit shift register, and a 4-bit flip-flop. The devices span an operating voltage range of from 3V to 5.5V.
The SK10/100EL16 family of differential receivers supports multiple-voltage applications, eliminating the need to buy separate receivers for different operating voltages. And the SK10/100EP111 1:10 ECL/PCL/HSTL clock driver works with either 3.3V or 2.5V systems and can accept two clock inputs, which are fanned out to 10 outputs through an input multiplexer. Depending on the device, the new logic comes in 8-pin SOICs, 28-pin PLCCs, or 32-pin LQFPs and costs from $4.25 to $11.80 each/10K.
