An analog companion IC, groomed for low-cost music players, the AT73C209 supplies the necessary voltages and currents to all sections of a portable player. Deriving power from a single alkaline battery, it also provides a high-quality audio interface. The device integrates power management and audio circuitry including two linear regulators, one low-input voltage step-up switching regulator working down to 0.9V, and a 16-bit stereo audio DAC with headset driver and microphone preamplifier to interface with the recording stage of a MCU.
