Active Splitters Outfit Multi-Tuner Set-Top Boxes

Chiseled for use in CATV set-top boxes with multiple tuners, the APS3608, APS3611, and APS3623 active splitters integrate low noise amplifiers to drive multiple output paths to either an analog or digital tuner. The APS3608 is a three-way active splitter with differential inputs and outputs and integrated gain control. It specifies a 5-dB typical noise figure at 5.5 dB gain and the three output paths are individually controllable with each providing 29 dB of gain control. Operating over a 50 MHz to 1.1 GHz band, the device delivers a CTB/CSO of -70 dBc and a cross modulation of -67 dBc. The two-way APS3611 with single-ended inputs and outputs operates up to 870 MHz and includes a frequency/gain profile to compensate for in-band attenuation caused by MoCA line filters. It specifies a noise figure of 5 dB, fixed gain of 3 dB, and provides a current adjust pin for optimizing distortion performance. The three-way APS3623 with single-ended inputs and outputs is compatible with MoCA bands over 1 GHz and supports both analog and digital channel lineups. With a CTB of -77 dBc and a CSO of -65 dBc, the linearity/distortion performance of the device is reportedly best in class.
