Completely digital and designed for making strain gauge measurements, the PS02 ASIC supports either two full bridges or four half bridges, as well as devices with multiple sensors or applications that require system redundancy. The device determines resistance ratios using precise time interval measurements, capable of resolutions up to 18 bits of 1,000µ strain. For situations requiring high update rates, the device can deliver an 11.5-bit resolution at 4 kHz. Depending on the application, total system current can be as low as 5 µA. In a 48 TQFP with a SPI interface, the ASIC measures 9-mm square, provides programmable update rates to 20 kHz, and operates at temperatures from -40°C to 120°C. Price is $7.50 each/1,000.
