Described as a cost-effective stereo codec for portable-audio applications, the WAU8822 packs a wealth of features including a 48-kHz stereo DAC specifying a 94-dBA SNR and a -84-dB THD and a 48-kHz stereo ADC with a 93-dBA SNR and a -80-dB THD. Including microphone management circuitry, a 900-mW speaker drive capability, and signal path and gain selection, the device consumes just 6 ?A of standby current. Other features include analog inputs and outputs, configurable stereo line outputs, stereo differential/single-ended microphone inputs with programmable gain and an ALC loop, differential inputs with common mode rejection, two auxiliary inputs for microphone/warning tones mixing, industry-standard digital interfaces, standard audio interfaces, and two-, three- and four-wire control interfaces that include register read-back capability.
