Gemtek Picks Ikanos Solution For Triple-Play Offering

Gemtek Technology designed Ikanos' VDSL2 CPE and Fusiv processor silicon and residential gateway software suite for its WVDK-105G triple-play offering. The Fusiv gateway processors use Ikanos' distributed architecture to offload switching, routing and firewall functions to on-chip Accelerator Processors, freeing up the central processing unit (CPU) for other applications. The architecture enables wire speed performance across all local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) interfaces. The processor integrates full-chain voice processing, signaling, and network protocol processing on a single chip. "By combining a comprehensive hardware and software solution, Ikanos provided us with the necessary framework to quickly bring to market a triple play residential gateway that meets the needs of carriers worldwide," Howard Chen, president and CEO of Gemtek, said in a statement.
