A family of high-density memory DIMMs based on DDR memories comes with capacities of 1, 2, and 4 Gbytes, all with a speed grade of 266 MHz. The modules are based on a 2-in.-high format that allows the use of standard DDR DRAMs by using impedance matching layout and reduced capacitive loading. Built-in air gaps help eliminate crosstalk and electromagnetic coupling. As a result, the modules can deliver high performance while suppressing costs. The company expects to offer faster speed grades later in the year, and DDR2 versions by early 2005. Cost for the 266-MHz, 184-pin DIMMs may vary due to memory pricing, but the 1-, 2-, and 4-Gbyte modules run approximately $250, $600, and $1000, respectively.
