Differential Line Drivers Fit Professional Audio Uses

Converting a single-ended input to a balanced output pair, DRV134 and DRV135 differential output drivers consist of on-chip precision resistors with high-performance op amps featuring excellent ac specs, including low distortion of 0.0005% at 1 kHz, low noise, and high slew rate of 15V/µs. Fully specified for professional audio applications, the devices are well-suited for line outputs in mixing and broadcast consoles and effects processors. In industrial applications, the devices can be used to transmit precision dc signals through electrically hostile environments. The on-chip resistors are laser-trimmed for accurate gain and high common-mode rejection. A wide supply range (±4.5V to ±18V), wide output voltage swing, and high output drive capability allows use of the drivers in a variety of demanding applications. The DRV comes in 8-pin DIP and SOL-16 SMT packages that are pin-for-pin replacements for the SSM2142. The DRV135 provides the same performance in an SO-8 SMT package.
