Said to be the industry's first silicone tuner to be DOCSIS certified by CableLabs, the standard-logic, CMOS-based BCM3415 supports both 64 and 256 QAM and offers an IF output range of 36 to 44 MHz. This is considered to be sufficient for both the NTSC and PAL standards. A highly integrated device, it claims to replace up to 200 discrete components, usually housed in a tuner can. Available in high production quantities, price is under $4 each.
