Targeting portable products, the MAX4090 6-dB video buffer with sync-tip input clamp and output sag correction consumes a mere 150 nA of shutdown current. Operating from a 2.7 to 5V supply, power consumption in active mode is 6.5 mA. The sag-correction output drives ac-coupled, 150 ohms back-terminated video loads and provides low-frequency compensation to reduce the large, 330- to 1,000-µF coupling capacitor normally required to two, smaller 22-µF caps. The input clamp positions the video waveform at the output, allowing the device to function as either an ac- or dc-coupled output driver. In six-pin SOT23 and SC70 packages and an operational temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, prices start at $0.49 ech/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
