Deemed an industry first, the LM4934 Boomer stereo audio subsystem provides both digital and analog inputs: one I2S digital and three analog inputs. This approach promises to eliminate the need for an external d/a converter and multiplexer. The device integrates audio amplifiers, volume control, mixer, power management, and 3D sound-enhancement technology into a 3.3 mm x 3.9 mm, 42-bump micro SMDxt package. Operating on a 3.3V supply, the amplifier delivers 500 mW per channel into an 8? load, and the chip’s stereo headphone amp outputs 30 mW per channel into a 32? load. Price is $3.80 each/1,000.
