Sync Separator Shakes Off Jitter

Ready for high-def broadcast systems, the LMH1981 sync separator makes its mark by claiming the best jitter performance available, allowing users to extract signals without extra filtering and jitter-cleaning stages. Based on input-referred jitter testing using high-def inputs, it promises up to 30% improvement in horizontal-sync output jitter over comparable devices. The chip performs all sync separation for NTSC, PAL, and SECAM. Other features include: all timing outputs including horizontal, vertical, composite, odd/even field, and burst/back porch clamp; automatic format detection; bi- and tri-level sync inputs; and 50% slicing to handle signals varying in amplitude, offset, and noise.
