Forecasting feature-rich set-top boxes with high levels of performance and security, the BCM7405 digital set-top box on a chip employs 65-nm process technology to reduce the bill of materials and enable higher levels of integration and system performance. Reportedly, equipment manufacturers can build next generation HD digital broadcast and IP set-top boxes supporting the latest interactive features, a wide range of video compression standards, and networked PVR functionality. The device supports VC-1, WMV9, H.263-H.264, MPEG-4, and DIVX plus digital rights management including Microsoft DRM10, Secure Video Processor technology, and Marlin JDA.
