Accepting the challenges of audio-signal management in digital television (DTV) systems, the CS42324 and CS42325 DTV codecs accommodate audio signals from numerous incoming sources and provide users with a single IC solution that manages all audio-signal routing. The CS42324 integrates a stereo ADC, four-channel DAC, an input and output multiplexer, line-level input buffers, and output drivers. It has the ability to run the ADC and DAC at asynchronous sample rates and its 5:1 stereo input multiplexer allows selected source signals to be passed through either a data converter or to the output drivers. Otherwise equal, the CS42325 is hardware and software compatible with the CS42324 and adds stereo headphone drivers on one of the three stereo output pairs. Samples of the CS42324 and CS42325 are available in a 48-pin LQFPs and are priced at $2.05 and $2.15 each/10,000, respectively. CIRRUS LOGIC INC., Austin, TX. (800) 888-5016.
