Logging in as the industry's first adaptive equalizer for composite video over twisted-pair cables, the MAX7474 automatically compensates for cable losses that occur in the transmission of a composite video signal with blanking and sync over UTP cable lengths up to 300m. The device also promises to significantly improve signal quality for cable lengths up to 600m. Compatible with NTSC and PAL standards, it intelligently adapts to cable length and adjusts the video signal gain appropriately and it automatically switches over to fixed equalization for monochrome CVBS. Other features include an integrated video driver (0 dB gain) with adjustable back-porch clamp level and LOS and LOB outputs. Available in a 16-pin SSOP, prices start at $6 each/1,000.
