Oct. 8, 2008
Akros Silicon's AS1854 PoE power SoC with 2-kV isolation, which eliminates optocouplers and integrates the functionality of up to nine ICs, targets next-generation IP applications.

The AS1854 is part of the AS18x4 product family, which includes the AS1854, AS1844, AS1834 and AS1824. These devices offer a complete range of high-end to low-end and high-power (PoE Plus, IEEE 802.3at-pre) to low-power (IEEE 802.3af) products that meet diverse product line requirements and provide substantial cost savings. The AS1854 is the first Power-over-Ethernet, Power SoC with 2-kV integrated isolation for the next-generation of IP applications. Built around the company’s patented GreenEdge digital isolation technology, the device eliminates low-speed, bulky opto-couplers and integrates the functionality of up to nine separate ICs used in current solutions. Included are a third-generation IEEE 802.3af/at PD controller and quad-output digital power dc-dc- converters. Typical applications include IP phones and cameras, wireless access points, Thin-Client terminals, and WiMAX CPEs.
