Allowing accurate digital power management using low-cost analog supplies, the MAX16064 quad-channel digital power-supply controller offers a PMBus interface for programming, sequencing, monitoring, and margining power supplies. The device interfaces with as many as four all-analog power supplies to create a fully programmable, digital power-management solution. Applications include servers, storage devices, switches, base stations, routers, and networking equipment. By tapping into the enable, feedback node, and/or reference input, the device provides tracking, sequencing, and fine setting of the output voltage with a ±0.3% accuracy over the operating temperature. It stores fault data in external EEPROM to ease the process of identifying and debugging failures. Additionally, a graphical user interface for programming comes with the MAX16064 free of charge. Available in a 36-pin TQFN measuring 6 mm x 6 mm, price starts at $6.34 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
