Promising significantly longer playback time in portables, the WM8912 d/a converter (DAC) exploits a unique low power DAC capacitor switching architecture that enables a DAC to headphone power consumption of less than 4 mW. It also employs proprietary Class W amplifier technology with an adaptive dual drive charge pump and dc-servo-circuit architecture. Other features include a control write sequencer, flexible clocking options, and a programmable dynamic range controller. Available in a 32-pin, 4 mm x 4 mm QFN, price is $1.52 each/1,000.
