For applications requiring up to 900 MHz of bandwidth, the MAX4885AE 2:1 VGA multiplexer can switch two VGA signals from a graphics controller to one connector while maintaining a typical on capacitance of 5.5 pf. The device is allegedly the only 2:1 switch offering a complete VGA solution with two separate control signals that independently switch between the high- and low-frequency circuitry. Reportedly, it provides glitch-free switching and two times more bandwidth than any existing device. Additionally, it integrates ±15 kV (HBM) and ±8 kV (IEC 61000-4-2 contact discharge) of ESD protection. Operating from a single 5V supply and available in a 28-pin, 4 mm x 4 mm TQFN package, pricing for the MAX4885AE starts at $2.50 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
