Level Translators Save Processor Overhead

July 9, 2010
The MAX14548E and MAX14548AE ±15-kV ESD-protected, 16-channel bidirectional level translators provide level shifting for data transfers in multi-voltage systems.

Promising to free up processor resources and enable high-speed interfacing, the MAX14548E and MAX14548AE ±15-kV ESD-protected, 16-channel bidirectional level translators provide level shifting for data transfers in multi-voltage systems. They accept a voltage range from 1.1V to 3.6V on the VL side and from 1.7V to 3.6V on the ±15-kV ESD-protected Vcc side. Both devices operate at a guaranteed data rate of 100 Mb/s and feature a power-saving shutdown mode that forces the I/O lines to a high-impedance state and decreases the supply current to less than 1 mA. They are compatible with 4mA input open-drain or push-pull drivers, which makes them suitable for a wide variety of applications. Available in 40-bump, 2.16 mm x 3.46 mm WLPs, pricing starts at $1.75 each/1,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
