USB 3.0 Repeater/Redriver Chip Trims Power Consumption

Announced as the world’s lowest power USB 3.0 repeater/redriver IC, the PS8710A/B device is the also trumpeted as the first USB 3.0 repeater/redriver to incorporate automatic adaptive equalization. The bi-directional USB 3.0 chip is available in two versions. The PS8710A uses a single 1.5V power supply while the PS8710B uses a single 3.3V power supply. The PS8710A/B are sampling now and production volumes will be available January 2011. Both devices come in a 4 mm x 4 mm, 24-pin TQFN package. Price for either device is $1.50 each in high volume.
