Integrating the main signal processing functions required for LCD digital televisions in the North American market, the R8A66983BG and R8A66980BG system-on-chip (SoC) devices measure 17 mm x 17 mm. The R8A66983BG SoC supports full HD and the R8A66980BG supports WXGA. Both devices promise to make it easier to meet the Energy Star 4.0 standard of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
