The first two product families based on Cypress’ PSoC 4 programmable system-on-a-chip architecture were recently unveiled. The ARM-based PSoC 4100 family is intended for cost-sensitive, high-volume applications. The family, which offers enhanced capacitive-touch sensing capability, combines op amps, low power comparators, and a fast successive-approximation ADC on one chip. PSoC 4100 will address the general-purpose 8-bit and 16-bit MCU markets. The PSoC 4200 family features faster processor and ADC sampling speeds, and PLD-based enhanced universal digital blocks (UDBs). These devices offer power leakage of 150nA while retaining SRAM memory, programmable logic, and the ability to wake up from an interrupt. In stop mode, the devices consume 20 nA while maintaining wake-up capability from an I/O pin. The PSoC 4200 family offers full analogue and digital operation from 1.71 V to 5.5 V. Also available is a PSoC 4 Pioneer Development Kit for the Arduino marketplace.
