Under auspices of the company's CompanionCore Alliance program, 4i2i Communications has optimized its Viterbi and Reed-Solomon encoder and decoder intellectual property (IP) cores for use with the ProASIC Plus, Axcelerator, SX-A, and RTSX-S field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). In addition, 4i2i has optimized its JPEG encoders and decoders for the Axcelerator device family. the Viterbi IP core supports error correction for burst mode and continuous data input. The Reed-Solomon encoder and decoder IP cores provide full-duplex encoding and decoding and are compatible with a variety of international telecomm standards, including CCSDS, DECT, ADSL and xDSL. The ISO 10918-compatibile JPEG encoder and decoder cores provide baseline JPEG compression capabilities that include support for image resolutions up to 4,080 x 4,080 and processing of up to 30 CIF frames per second. Prices start at $2,500 for a single-use netlist license. ACTEL CORP., Sunnyvale, CA. (888) 992-2835.
