FPGA Based Products Speed FFTs By A Factor Of 10

Oct. 1, 2002

Integrating the company’s GateFlow FPGA Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) engine, the Model 6235 dual-channel, 12-bit 100 MHz digital receiver is said to perform FFTs up to ten times faster. Using a proprietary block memory scheme, it can execute a pipelined, 4k-point radix-4 FFT in 10.24 µs. This is reported as being four times faster than the time to collect the 4k input points at a 100 MHz sampling rate. The receiver can use the XC2V1000 or XC2V3000 FPGA from Xilinx. In addition, the GateFlow FPGA design kit includes software and utilities for extending FPGA functions and creating algorithms quickly. Price for the Model 6235 with 1K GateFlow starts at $11,995. The kit is priced at $1,500. PENTEK, INC., Upper Saddle River, NJ. (201) 818-5900.
