The M36W108A is a low-voltage device consisting of an 8-Mbit flash memory and a 1-Mbit SRAM mounted in a single BGA48 chip-scale package. The device’s small, 12 mm x 10 mm footprint occupies about 60% less space than separate memories, making it suitable for use in GPS and navigation systems, cell phones, pagers, PDAs, and many other portable embedded applications. In most cases, the flash is used to store microcontroller program code while the asynchronous SRAM stores data.Flash is organized as 1 Mbit x 8 in a boot-block configuration with top and bottom boot block options available. The SRAM is a 128k x 8 memory with fully static operation. The device operates from a single 2.7V to 3.6V supply with the high voltage required for erasure and programming generated internally. Flash memory includes a security protection area that’s factory programmed with 256 bytes that uniquely identifies the part.
