Claimed as the fastest and highest density dual-ports on the market, the new additions to the company's synchronous and asynchronous x36 dual-port memory family of 1-, 2- and 4-Mbit devices now run at speeds of up to 166 MHz. The devices are footprint-compatible with the firm's existing x36 devices and boast of selectable 3.3V and 2.5V operation on either port, full byte-enable support to facilitate bus-matching using x9, x18 or x36 widths, and JTAG functionality.
Among the sync dual-ports' features are separate clocks for each port to support communication between buses running at different frequencies or in separate clock domains and separate full-boundary counters per port to facilitate bursting data into and out of the device. The async parts, in turn, tout busy arbitration, semaphores and interrupts to improve data integrity and fast, 10-ns access times.
The dual-ports are targeted at high-speed switching apps in telecomm, datacomm and storage networks. They come in PQFPs, TQFPs, fpBGAs and BGAs and are priced as low as $43.35, $60.70 and $85 each/10,000 for 1-, 2- and 4-Mbit dual-ports.
